Basic Rectifier Reverse-Current Protection System
The BRP provides very reliable basic reverse current protection particularly important in parallel rectifier applications. Without this “line of protection,” cascading semiconductor failures within a rectifier could trigger a catastrophic rectifier failure which could bring down a process line for hours, days, or weeks.
The economical BRP protects rectifiers from excessive reverse current damage by providing fast indication of reverse current events. This alarm is used to automatically take the rectifiers off-line before the most severe damage can occur. The benefits are minimal rectifier damage costs and downtime.
One BRP is used on each rectifier bus that feeds a common load. The basic BRP system consists of two modules mounted on opposite sides of the monitored bus bar.
The BRP alarm signal can be connected directly to site control and protection systems or to optional relay and indicating modules available from DynAmp.
