BRP
Advanced Rectifier Protection System with Proprietary Magnetic Shielding
- Proprietary magnetic shielding: Reduced false alarms
- ASIC-based current sensor: Increased dependability
- Direct Bus Mounting: Simple installation for varying bus bar sizes
- Variety of configurations and available outputs
System Configurations can be:
- 24V Logic reverse alarm output
- Latching reverse alarm output with LED indication and manual reset button
- Power Relay for direct activation of protection equipment
- Simple and Straightforward Configuration compared to BCMR
The BRP uses special integrated ASIC Hall-based sensors; however, a fourth-generation quadrature switch element is utilized. This ASIC also includes onboard temperature compensation as well as signal conditioning and amplification, stabilizing measurements over a wide range and improving the signal-to-noise ratio. The BRP system consists of two electrically isolated sensors that attach to the bus bar. The sensor pair uses comparative cancellation and DynAmp’s new proprietary magnetic shielding to create accurate sensing. The influence of external fields is reduced significantly causing a minimized chance of false trips to occur.
The BRP is triggered when a reverse current event is detected. With a BRP in a basic configuration, triggers are signaled via a fail-safe 24V output signal dropping to 0V. This output can be used to directly drive power relays and/or provide a logic signal for PLCs. No matter the length of the duration of the reverse current event the signal will drop to 0V for at least 200mS. This voltage drop will ensure that connected protection systems have time to sense and act upon the reverse current event.
